Las Vegas Raiders name Antonio Pierce as head coach following Josh McDaniels firing
Pierce had a stellar nine-year career as a linebacker in the NFL.
He became the Raiders’ linebackers coach in 2022.
The Las Vegas Raiders named Antonio Pierce as head coach and Champ Kelly as general manager, replacing the recently fired Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler.
Pierce took over as head coach after serving as McDaniels’ linebackers coach this season and last. Before joining the Raiders, Pierce served as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach for Herm Edwards at Arizona State. He also has a nine-year NFL career as a defensive back.
Champion Kelly was the Raiders’ assistant general manager for the past two seasons. He spent seven years with the Bears and eight years with the Broncos before coming to the Raiders. The general manager’s duties may decrease between the trade deadline and the end of the regular season, but Kelly will lead the team for the next two months.
The Raiders have officially announced that they will be searching for a new general manager and head coach after the current season ends.
