According to authorities, a former Georgia high school soccer star sadly lost her life after being hit by a stray gunshot while working at a club.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, shooting broke out outside of The Pier in Remerton, where Brianna Long, 21, and a coworker were shutting up, according to The Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Long was hit as she was inside the business. After being brought to South Georgia Medical Center, she eventually passed away from her wounds, according to the police.

According to the GBI, there were a lot of customers outside the restaurant when the shooting started, and bullets also hit a few cars. There were no other recorded injuries.

The GBI informed The Post that no suspects have been named and no arrests have been made.

Who is Brianna Long?

According to WSBTV, Long was a talented soccer player at Paulding County High School. Awarded the Positive Athlete Georgia regional champion while attending PHS, Long was one of 5,000 student-athletes who were nominated for the honor for the 2019–2020 academic year.

According to her obituary, she had been enrolled at Valdosta State University and was scheduled to get her Bachelor of Science in dental hygiene in May 2024.

“Brianna has an unmatched capacity to brighten any space and instill love in everyone in her vicinity. She never met a stranger thanks to her contagious laugh and kind nature, her relatives said in the obituary.

She left an indelible mark on the lives of countless people with her genuine compassion and empathy,” says one.
