Tara Lipinski shared her exciting news with TODAY contributing reporter Kaylee Hartung, saying, “I have some truly incredible news to share! Todd and I have a baby girl named Georgie Winter, born into our arms by the most beautiful surrogate.
Lipinski’s path to motherhood was filled with challenges, as she struggled with infertility for several years. He was in the delivery room when his beloved daughter was born. She described the deep emotions of that moment: “My doctor made me listen to my favorite song and I’m screaming because I think I’m saying, ‘Is this five-year journey over?’ I was very relieved. And then immediately. , the baby is outside, screaming and on my chest, we do skin-to-skin contact and wonder, ‘How did my life change so quickly and is this a dream?’ It was one of those moments. Because that’s what it feels like.”
Lipinski and Kapostasy candidly share their experiences with pregnancy challenges in their podcast “Tara Lipinski: Unexpected.” Their journey included multiple in vitro fertilization treatments, four miscarriages, and a diagnosis of endometriosis, a condition where uterine cells grow in other parts of the body, making it difficult to get pregnant.
As a figure skating analyst for NBC Sports Group, Lipinski expressed immense gratitude for the arrival of their first child, saying: “I’m so grateful — this hasn’t happened in a very long time — and we’re very, very lucky this happened for us.” Despite her joy, she remains aware of and feels a sense of responsibility towards others struggling with infertility.
Through their video podcast about infertility, Lipinski and Todd not only deepened their bond as a couple, but also found solace in a newfound community. “Not only do I feel more connected to Todd, having had these conversations that I never thought I would have, but I’m also now connected to all of this,” Lipinski said.
