On December 31, 1952, in Merced, central California, Ogletree was born to a group of hard-working farmers. They later separated.

He graduated summa cum laude from Stanford College’s political theory undergraduate program in 1974, from Harvard Graduate School’s Mama program in 1975, and from Stanford College’s JD program in 1978.

While still a regulation understudy, he became the leader of the Dark American Regulation Understudies Association, which later evolved into the Public Dark Regulation Understudies Association.

From graduate school until 1985, Ogletree worked for the District of Columbia Public Safety Administration as a staff attorney, agency chief, front boss, and staging chief.
