Dr. Talat Khan was fatally stabbed by Miles Fridrich, 24, according to allegations from the police.

After Fridrich was taken into custody, the reason for the stabbing was not immediately apparent. In a statement, the Houston-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said that it is “paying very close attention” to the investigation.

First-degree murder charges were brought against 24-year-old Fridrich.

According to Conroe police, he reportedly assaulted Khan at the Alys Apartments at 12:30 p.m. before escaping on foot, as reported by KTRK. At the scene, Khan was declared deceased.

Later, Fridrich was taken into custody when witnesses provided police with a description of the accused perpetrator.
“She is a Muslim who is steadfast in her beliefs; they are characteristics that set her apart. She is so nice and caring. She was the greatest aunt I’ve ever had.

The group released a statement saying, “Given the tragic circumstances, we are paying very close attention to the investigation. At this moment, we are unsure if this was a hate crime.” “We will keep an eye on the situation as we begin our own investigation and carry on our ongoing conversation with law enforcement.”

Incident Details & Tributes

In the startling incident, a witness told KHOU that the culprit “came out of nowhere.”

The witness told the station, “I was outside and I heard a woman out there, and I heard that she was screaming.” “She was seated at the outdoor table.”

Wajahat Nyaz told KPRC that his deceased sister relocated from Seattle to this region in July in order to take advantage of the climate.

He said that one of the primary reasons she relocated here was because she like the warm weather and sun.

The victim left behind a son, 23, and a daughter, 14.

Nyaz further said, “Her kids and her kids she looked after as a pediatrician were her entire life.” “Those two things were the center of her entire existence.”

Family members told the channel they don’t think Khan and Fridrich were acquainted before the murders.

According to KPRC, Fridrich has been the subject of prior drug and firearm accusations in Conroe that were eventually dropped or disposed of.

The Texas mosque that Khan frequented sent its sympathies to the family and urged its followers to be watchful and mindful of their surroundings.

According to a Facebook post, the Al-Ansaar Islamic Center also said that it was preparing to discuss its safety concerns with Montgomery County officials and was investigating the possibility of adding more security for Friday prayer and other events.
